Hello hello helloooooo my friends! I hope your week is going well and you are remembering to eat some snacks, drink some water, and take some breaks. Today I wanted to take a little time to talk about one of the brands that I use in my day to day skincare--Scarlett Johansson's "The Outset" Skincare line! Before I dive in, I do want to clarify that this is NOT a sponsored post, I just really enjoy their products 🤭
I started using "The Outset" around September of 2023 (so about 6-7 months at this point) and found that it has really helped my skin a lot! The basics set comes with a cleanser, a serum, and a moisturizer, and that is basically all I use (besides a sunscreen that I added to my morning routine). It is supposed to have all natural ingredients that supposedly gently cleanse your skin rather than be abrasive or "deep cleansing" like a lot of other products on the market. Here are my pros and cons with having used the products thus far! Pros: -My skin has cleared up a lot since using it! -It's only three steps, which makes it super easy for me to follow through with a routine when I'm not feeling motivated to do my skincare, or am feeling super tired at night. -The aesthetic of the bottles is very cute <3 -When you run low, you can buy the refill packets and refill the bottles you already have! Cons: -Because it is so gentle, if I happen to miss a day or two of proper skincare, my skin breaks out a lot quicker than if I had used other products :( but honestly this just motivates me to keep up a good routine HAHAHA -It is more expensive than skincare you can buy in stores (like Target). Other Tips: -This is more a skincare tip in general, but I found that double-cleansing at night (washing your face once to get the dirt and grime off, and then a second time to ACTUALLY cleanse your skin) works WONDERS. My skin cleared up and the cleanser worked so much better after I started doing that. And also washing your hands before you do your skincare, too. It sounds like a no brainer, I know. But doing that before touching your face helps to not add any MORE dirt or germies to your skin :) -If you wanted to try it but aren't ready to commit to the full thing, I recommend starting with the travel sizes! That's what I did before buying the big bottles, and it was super helpful to see how my skin responded to the product change without dropping a ton of money on something I wasn't sure about quite yet. I also own the Purifying Clay Mask and oh my god you guys, it makes my skin SOOOO soft. Like insanely soft, I rinse it off and am still amazed every time at how smooth my skin feels afterwards. I am looking to maybe add the Night Cream into my routine at some point soon, and if I do I'll be sure to post a video update for you all :) That's all for today! I just wanted to share a little bit about my routine and my thoughts on the products in case any of you were thinking of trying 🥰 If any of you guys use any other Outset skincare products that you think I would enjoy, feel free to leave a comment or DM me! I would love to hear about them! Have a great rest of your week, and I'll talk with you guys soon! -Jess

So many fandoms. So many characters. But only five will make the list. Take your guesses now, because I bet you can guess them all. I talk about them ALL the time, hahaha! 5. SnoopySnoopy is one of those characters that has just ALWAYS been there. Of course, he is always around during the holidays for the different Peanuts holiday specials. But the Apple TV show is also adorable as well! Snoopy is just the epitome of happiness and joy. He's always enjoying the little things, and just being his silly little goofy self. If I'm having a bad day, I always look to him to cheer up :) 4. Marty McFlyMy FAVORITE movie of all time is Back To The Future! So of course, Marty has to make this list. Marty isn't afraid to be himself, and fight for what he believes in. When I need the reminder to do that for myself, Marty is a great character to turn to. He's his goofy self, and he even learns to make the best of a bad situation (I mean, come on. He was literally stuck in the 50s for a week! Sure, that must have been stressful, but try and tell me he did not have a good time, hahaha!). 3. RapunzelShe's a dreamer, an artist, kind hearted, loving, caring, and above all, has such a pure heart, even after everything she has gone through. Rapunzel is one of those characters that I am constantly striving to be. I adore her and her reminder to keep dreaming and keep doing. That your trauma and past does not define you. To embrace your artistic creativity and strive to be kind towards others. I adore her <3 2. BlueySome people may say that this is a kids show, and it technically WAS made to be a kid show. But I think that Bluey has been able to help heal so many people's inner child (mine included!) and I very often find myself putting Bluey on in the background while I'm getting ready for my day, or working on a project. Bluey is learning about the world as a child, but is such a great reminder that at heart, we are all just kiddos. Thank you for showing me that I can still be a kid, Bluey 🥹 1. Spider-ManI mean, come ON. If you didn't guess that Spider-Man was going to be on the list when you first started reading this blog post, then I'm doing something wrong here. Spider-Man is a HUGE comfort character for me. I love his ability to make the best of a bad situation, and he is just like us. Trying to figure out his way through life. And like I said earlier with Rapunzel, he is constantly looking to try and help people, to brighten their days and lend a hand when he can. Even Peter Parker out of the suit is just as kind hearted as he is with the mask on. And I love that through all of that, Spidey reminds us that it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them. He isn't perfect. And that's what makes him so special and lovable.
Two dogs, a princess, a time traveler and a super hero! I'd say this is quite the list here, hahah! I would love to hear about some of your favorite comfort characters! Feel free to leave a comment below! And I'll catch you guys in the next blog :) -Jess Oh, hi there!! You thought that my blogs were gone for good, didn't you 😉 Most certainly not! The start of this year has been a little crazy for me as I have been expanding my content and also I have had some things happening in my personal life as well, so blog posts kind of fell off the agenda for a bit. But we are back and better than ever!
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I am currently working on a new cosplay 👀 I want it to be a surprise, so I can't tell you QUITE too much yet, but I can say right now that I am super excited about this one. It's a character from a (non-Marvel) movie franchise that I adore that I have wanted to cosplay for a while! I have been slowly getting the pieces in the mail, but am hoping to have it done and debuted by next week if things continue to go according to plan! Although, that all depends on if everything fits correctly of course 😅 ah, the life of a cosplayer. If you are interested in getting behind-the-scenes and early access looks of my cosplays, you can become a subscriber on my Instagram! I have been uploading stories and posts there as I have updates about my cosplay process 🤭 I also have started streaming on Twitch (yippee!!). I am so excited to announce that I am officially a Twitch Affiliate! If you like Disney Dreamlight Valley (or just Disney in general!) I adore playing that game, and it is typically my go-to game to stream. I'm hoping to also start streaming some other games on Twitch as well (perhaps some Fortnite, The Sims, or Stardew Valley!). Another exciting thing--I'm really taking some initiative this year to do some more fun side projects! I'll be posting the long form updates on props and costumes to my Youtube as I work on them throughout the year, so be sure to subscribe if you want some cosplay prop inspiration/tutorials! 🥰 (I also love posting Vlogs and Lifestyle videos there too!). Lots of exciting things happening in the FPP world over the past few months, and it's only going to continue to keep growing! As I am expanding my chats about fandoms and lifestyle, I would love to hear more of what you all are interested in as well! It has been so much fun getting to talk to you all a little bit more about me and my other interests (though, Marvel is never gonna leave! It'll always be here in some way, shape or form 🥰). Feel free to leave a comment below, on my socials, or send me a DM if there is anything specific you'd like to see! I'm so excited to be back to blogging, and chatting with you all! Thank you once again for sticking around with me throughout my creator journey. Whether you are new here, or have been a long time follower, I am so grateful for your support. Until the next blog post! See ya then! 🫡 -Jess ...and sometimes that's truly just how life goes, huh?
So first of all. Hey guys! I have missed you all SO so much. It's been quite a while since I have written a blog (like, literally months) and it feels good to sit down and write again. I debated about jumping right back in with my thoughts on The Marvels after seeing it tonight, but I think I want to get a little more personal with this one first. So The Marvels will be next up <3 but how about we catch up a little for now, yeah? Trigger Warning for the topics below in regard to mental health and depression. When the SAG-AFTRA strike started, I wanted to show my support and stand in solidarity with both the actors and the writers as they fought for a living wage and fair rights against the use of AI. Everyone deserves to be paid fairly and given fair working conditions, and the unions were long overdue for a contract rewrite as technology has advanced. But standing in solidarity with the actors also meant not talking about my favorite fandoms...which unfortunately also meant no cosplays and no skits. The first two weeks were really tough on me. Those of you who have been following me for a while know how much the Marvel fandom means to me. And even other media as well, such as Disney, Star Wars, and shows that were on streaming services (I got really into New Girl and Gilmore Girls over the course of the strike!). Standing in solidarity was the right thing to do, and if that meant not talking about my favorite shows and movies then of course I would do it. But I didn't realize how much of my coping skills fell into these fandoms until it was taken away for an indefinite amount of time. And the indefiniteness of it all was definitely what got to me the most. I tried expanding my content (hence the Taylor Swift videos here and there) but it just didn't feel the same to me. I didn't get that spark that I used to get when I was dressed in cosplay and filmed my skits for you all. It made it really difficult for me to continue wanting to post videos. Because nothing felt right. I didn't feel as passionate about it. And that started to really get to me. Which is why my posting schedule went from a once-a-week blog and daily videos to maybe 1-2 videos a week and no blogs at all. I had to basically find entirely new coping skills to help me get through this weird content break period. I tried sewing, as you all may have seen from my two whole sewing vlogs (and haven't picked up since LOL whoops. I better get back into that soon!). And tried starting to read again. But when mental health hits you, it sometimes hits hard. And I found myself in a really not-so-great place in my good ol' brain of mine. I had no structure to my days anymore, which I think was a huge part of the reason I was not feeling well. But it also just made it tough in general to keep getting up in the morning. When every day felt the same and there was no end in sight to the strike. There was no one being like "Hey! You'll be able to post again by the time The Marvels rolls around!" or "Hey! Here's an exact date of when you can expect things to wrap up!". Which, of course, was probably the most frustrating for the actors and writers, as they wanted to get back to work! Every day they would show up, willing and ready to meet with the AMPTP to negotiate, and instead the AMPTP kept walking away from the table. I started to find it really hard to get out of bed. If I even got up and got dressed for my day then I'd call it a win. And to be completely honest you guys, I think this was one of the worst mental health lows I've had. I felt like I lost my purpose. And I wasn't able to connect with all of you anymore, which is one of the things I love so very much about content creating. The community and the connection over a mutual love of something so special to all of us. So that's why I disappeared in and out of posting for a bit. And that's okay, because I think that's basically what I needed to do to get through each day. Things are definitely looking a little better now. Right before the strike ended, I had been making more of an effort to reach out to some creator friends, been talking through some things with my therapist, and I've started regularly incorporating movement into my day which has definitely improved my mood. And now we're back to posting our regularly scheduled content again! Which definitely DEFINITELY helps. And overall, I know standing with the actors was the right thing to do. I wouldn't change that for a second. But I did want to share with you all why things have been the way they have on my socials, and share my story from a content creator perspective. While this strike may not have been about influencers and content creators specifically, a lot of us were definitely involved as we stood united with the performing arts unions, and we were impacted by a lot of what was happening. I know I certainly was. I would like to conclude this blog just by saying that for those of you who stuck around--thank you. You have no idea how much it means to me, that even though I wasn't posting what you followed me for and, heck, even though I fell off the face of the planet at times, you still were here, supporting me, sharing my shifted content style, and waiting it out with the actors, the rest of my fellow creators, and me. I love you all so so much. I truly am grateful for you. I'm excited to jump back into what I love, sharing what I love, and connecting with you all more now that the strikes have ended. Thank you. For everything <3 Until the next blog...which will be more regularly again now ;), -Jess (@femalepeterparker) ***ERAS TOUR SPOILERS BELOW*** This past Friday I was lucky enough to go to The Eras Tour with a group of my friends, and I wanted to talk to you all today about my experience with the tour and what it was like! I have been to every Taylor Swift tour since Speak Now, and I was very privileged in the fact that I was able to get tickets for this show. I don't know how the heck she did it, but my close friend was able to snag seats right before Ticketmaster crashed on sale day (she was like 200th in line for tickets--I really don't know how!! A Taylor Swift miracle for real hahah!). My friends and I always have a tradition of hanging out at one of our houses before heading to the show and ordering pizza. We have done this every time there has been a Taylor concert, and we did it this year too! We also made some themed drinks (Lavender Haze!) and each of us picked an era to dress as. I chose Midnights, because I felt that this current album was definitely the one that I related to the most out of Taylor's albums. I had gone shopping for this dress like WEEKS before the show and ended up finding it at Windsor, and it was perfect. I thought it embraced lots of different elements of the Midnights Era, with the lavender haze vibes and the sparkle to it. The jacket was a last minute addition from Amazon that I bought like three days before the show because the weather forecast was predicting 40 degree weather that night! I'm definitely glad I bought it because it for sure got a little cold HAHAHA. But I think it also tied the outfit together so well! My sister and I had also made friendship bracelets for everyone in our group based off of what Era we chose, and it was so fun getting to hand them out on show day! You're On Your Own, Kid is a song I so deeply relate to, and I loved being able to spread a little love through the lyrics of that one. Gotta be honest, we were all a little worried about the traffic going in. We had heard that other concerts were SO bad with the traffic, and that people were waiting hours before even finding a spot. But somehow we got super lucky and it really only took us twenty minutes! Maybe because we left pretty late to get to the show? Unfortunately we ended up missing the openers (GAYLE and Phoebe Bridgers) but managed to catch a little bit of Phoebe while we were standing in line for the bathrooms. We got lucky with the bathrooms, too, honestly! The line looked like it was super long but ended up moving relatively fast, which we were grateful for. By the time we were moving to get to our seats I was absolutely sobbing. Like, literal tears. I knew our section was close, but when I finally saw our view of the stage from where we were sitting it really hit me. We were in section 128 in the 6th row, and honestly? It was an AMAZING view! We could see Taylor so clearly (except for a few moments in the show when she was behind a prop or in that tiny folklore house HAHAH) and I honestly think the first bowl of the stadium is the way to go. I feel like with the floor, if you're a short person like I am and get stuck sitting behind someone who is taller, you're going to be missing a lot of the show! This way gave us full view of the stage since we had raised seating and we were still close enough to see her without her being a tiny dot in our vision. I really truly am still amazed my friend was even able to snag these for us. I literally don't know how she did it. So anyways, cue round one of tears from Jess (well, technically two. I started crying when we got through security as well HAHAH). They also handed out bracelets for everyone that synced during the show and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL (also pro tip my sister heard on TikTok--keep the tab that comes with your bracelet so that after the concert you can insert it back into the bracelet and save the battery life for longer! Then whenever you want to use the bracelet again, you just pull the tab out and it will glow again!). Taylor has done this at past concerts as well and I was so happy to see she was still doing it. Round three of tears was when Taylor came to the stage, I was CRYING so hard. I think what really got me was the "it's been a long time coming" intro. I was really not expecting her to start the show with Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince, and I thought it was such a perfect choice. It really enhanced so much of how we all felt, not having live music for so long! The rest of the show was so amazing--I was so sad to see she only had one Speak Now song for the tour! But also the show was like 3 ½ hours long, so I understand she had to kind of cut down on what was in the set hahah! Our surprise songs the night I was there were Should've Said No and Better Man and I literally was SO excited when she announced them as our songs! They were SO good to hear live, especially Better Man! I have videos of my reactions to those coming in a Peter Parker Vlog soon ;) Did I cry multiple times throughout the rest of the show? The answer is YES I did, but we don't have to talk about that HAHAHHA. It was so fun to experience the whole thing all together with the friends I've been seeing these shows with since I was 12. Absolutely amazing. Plus, I can also say this might be my favorite BeReal I've gotten so far this year! When the show ended (Karma AS THE FINALE SONG? I STILL CANNOT GET OVER HOW HYPE I WAS FOR THAT) my friends and I ended up sitting and waiting for the crowds to clear out. We were going to have to sit in traffic anyways, so we might as well just enjoy sitting in the stadium for a little longer. Someone came up to us as they were leaving and handed us some friendship bracelets! It was so sweet. Each one had a different song (mine was You're Not Sorry) and truly it was the cutest. Because we arrived late, and because we heard the merch truck lines were HOURS LONG, we didn't end up getting merch on the way in. But as we were walking out I noticed a merch booth with only like 7 people in line. I pointed it out to my friends, just as a suggestion that maybe we should take a look! You guys, I definitely recommend checking after the concert ends for merch if you want some and aren't picky about what exactly you want because we were in and out of that line in literally five minutes and we ALL got merch! I impulse bought the Eras Tour zip up and it is the cutest! My sister did hear though that for some people's merch the letters were peeling a bit, so be sure to iron over it before washing if you buy some, just in case! I put a little slideshow with what my zip up looks like below (it's a quarter zip with wording down the arms, and the tour logo on the back! After getting merch we could still see the MASSIVE lines of people trying to cross the street to where we parked, so we ended up going to Crumbl for some cookies (we were also STARVING so this was a great option LOL). I had never had Crumbl before, and I was SO excited to try! I ended up getting the classic chocolate chip, and it was the best cookie ever. So soft and chewy at the same time, oh my god. The absolute best. Even after all the time we killed doing other things, we still sat in traffic for THREE HOURS on the way back, and didn't get home until literally 3 in the morning. We were exhausted but happy all the same. The concert was so fun you guys. I will say, because Taylor had to fit so many songs into this one, there wasn't a lot of opportunity for her to make speeches this time, which I really missed! But it was still such a fun experience and an AMAZING show. I was so happy to hear so many great songs live (Cruel Summer and Karma book-ending the show was the icing on the cake for me, honestly. Two of my faves I was so hoping to hear live 🥹). I'm so grateful to have been able to go to this show. Stay tuned for the Peter vlog coming tonight! I'm so pumped to share a little bit more of the show with you guys <3 You all know how much I adore any and all things in the Marvel Universe. But this week, I wanted to share with you all and talk about some of my favorite non-Marvel related projects! Specifically TV shows. I never used to be a TV person. Especially if there were many seasons to catch up on, I would always get overwhelmed about having some much to binge! But over the past couple of years I have been slowly getting back into watching some shows. Here is a list of my absolute faves! 5. Parks and RecreationParks and Recreation is one of those shows that once I started watching, I couldn't stop! I was no longer scared of having so much to binge--I never wanted it to end! Every episode was so hilarious and I fell in love with all of the characters so quickly, especially with The Office style filming they had going on. I still regularly quote so many of the episodes even though I finished watching it a while ago. My personal favorite? When Andy sneezes and hits his head on the wall by accident, giving himself a concussion. Oh! Or when they rent the basketball court for Leslie's campaign, but forgot it was still a skating rink. And of course, the "Treat Yo-Self" episode. There are so many good ones. I'll have to have a rewatch soon just to see Lil' Sebastian again, hahah! 4. Only Murders in the BuildingOkay, so Only Murders in the Building has been out for a couple of years now, but I didn't start watching it until a few weeks ago. Another one that I binged, this one in literally a week. It was SO good! The murder mystery aspect of the show makes it so interesting, especially the way they went about it with the three of them meeting because of listening to the same true crime podcast. I missed seeing Selena Gomez on screen, so it was so much fun to have her back for this series, and Steve Martin and Martin Short's characters are both so interesting. I love the concept of the entire story and how many twists and turns are in each episode. I'm so excited for Season 3!! Hopefully it'll be ready for this summer <3 3. ShrinkingFor those of you who may not have heard of Shrinking before, it is a new show that came to Apple TV a month or so ago! The first season has dropped, and I am patiently awaiting the second season (which has already been confirmed!). The show stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel, who are both therapists. Jason Segel's character recently lost his wife, and he is dealing with his own grief as he helps his clients in some pretty unique ways. Don't let my synopsis fool you though--this is a comedy show! Every episode is filled with so many reasons to laugh, and is so heartfelt as well. I cannot wait for the next season, it has quickly become one of my all-time favorites! 2. Ted LassoYou already KNOW how much I adore this show! Ted Lasso has quickly become a favorite in my household. It is easily one of the highlights of my Wednesdays. I didn't expect to like this originally--a show about soccer (or, football, since it's in the UK)? I'm not a huge sports person, so I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this one. But oh my gosh you guys, by episode 3 I was HOOKED. The characters are so lovable and Ted is so funny. I love getting to watch them slowly work together to bond as a team, and I can't wait for another Ted Lasso episode this week! 1. The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselBy far one of my favorite shows in the entire world is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Absolutely EVERYTHING in this show makes it my favorite. The fashion, the music, the plot. The way the camera shots are. It's like watching a live stage play, but on your screen. And the jokes are so funny. Susie and Midge are hilarious, and I am so sad that this show is in its last season right now. Getting to watch Midge's rise to fame as a comedy star has been so wonderful. I think I'm due for a rewatch of the whole series after this season is finished being released.
Do you watch any of these shows? And if so, which one is your favorite? Leave a comment below, or DM me on Insta! I would love to hear your thoughts! Hello my lovelies and happy April! I hope things have been good with all of you these past couple of days as we come into a new month of the year.
Today I wanted to talk about what to expect from me in the coming month in terms of my content! As always, I try to post a blog every Monday (which by the way, if there's anything you all want me to write about, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message!) and I'm cranking out more skits for you all as you read this! There's a lot of awesome stuff upcoming that I'm super pumped to share with all of you! First up, the biggest thing, I will be attending Wicked Con in Boston this April! I know as of right now I will for certain be there on the 22nd, and tentatively the 23rd as well. I'm so excited to head into another Con and to be able to connect with you all. If you happen to be going to Wicked Con and cross paths with me, please stop me and say hello! One of my absolute favorite parts of going to conventions is being able to interact with all of you off-screen, and I can't wait for that again! This is also coming up upon what I like to call Busy-Jess-Season, because I have a lot of awesome little things happening within the next few months that I get to look forward to! Even if it's just hanging out with family and friends in some capacity, I'm super excited to have some cool events to work towards as the weather starts to warm up and events start to happen again. In terms of watch parties, we are almost at the end of our Daredevil Watch Parties! We will be watching the last two episodes on April 14th (a Friday this time!) and I can't believe we're almost done! Thank you to all of you who have come along for the ride as I watched this for the very first time <3 I've been busying myself with my work, and also working through some mental health roadblocks (this is your reminder to TAKE BREAKS. I took a much needed three-day break this weekend, hence the lack of content, and it already made me feel SO much better!). Yet another reason I'm looking forward to that warm weather again! I want to spend so much time outside! That's all for me right now! Lots of little things coming as they happen, and I am so excited to chat and interact with you all as the month continues! Have an awesome Monday, and I'm sending you all lots of virtual hugs! -FPP <3 P.S. UM that Secret Invasions trailer yesterday?! I'M STOKED! Maybe a future blog post breaking that one down soon? ;) Well, Punxsutawney Phil unfortunately predicted six more weeks of winter! But on the bright side, I think it’s in perfect timing with my announcement of my Winter Soldier cosplay this past week 🥰 I wanted to share with you all a little bit more about my journey with making this cosplay! It is the first cosplay I ever made just by finding articles of clothing that I thought would replicate the character…and also my first cosplay that I built something for—the arm! THE OUTFITWhen I started to create this Female Winter Soldier cosplay, I didn’t want to just buy a costume like I’ve done in the past. I really wanted to put more aspects of myself into this one and also picture how a Female Bucky Barnes would dress. I had kind of a general idea of what I was picturing for an outfit, and decided to start looking on Amazon for pieces that fit the aesthetic. Obviously I wanted the left arm to be exposed, as that would be the statement piece: the metal arm. So with that knowledge, I knew I wanted to have a one-sleeve piece for the right arm. I also had a reference picture of Bucky that I was looking at while shopping, which greatly helped the rest of the outfit shopping process! I wanted a way to kind of replicate that strap-vest he wears, but didn’t want to just buy a utility vest, so I ended up finding a body harness that went well with the costume idea! I knew I already had a black crop top in my closet, so with the arm sleeve and the body harness I knew the top was complete. Also thinking of the tactical work that Bucky would be doing led me to really thinking about what to add for the bottom half of the costume. Both from the reference picture, and from outfits that other female Marvel characters have worn, I knew I wanted to find black cargo pants for this piece. And you guys, oh my god…they are SO comfy! The ones I found are actually almost like sweatpants (they have a stretchy waistline and soft fabric) and have really deep pockets, which will be sooo so useful if I ever wear this to a convention. But as Yelena shared with her words of vest wisdom, you can never have too many pockets. So I ended up adding more by getting a utility belt (which was actually a police utility belt) and thigh holsters! I also bought some black knee pads to match the ones that Bucky wears in the reference picture. And lastly, I had black combat boots in my closet that I have used for many other cosplays that I ended up adding to this to finalize the costume look. I did want to have a couple of props, but wasn’t looking to get too crazy with anything. I own a Captain America shield, which I knew would be great for those rooftop picture moments. I really wanted to get the Bucky Barnes mask and actually found a great shop on Etsy of someone who 3D prints them based on your face size! The mask fits so well and is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I was so happy when I got the box in the mail and was able to put it on for the first time! Then I tried to think of a few staple weapons that Bucky would have on hand. I know the knife flip/combat scene is a very popular one, so I ended up finding a rubber knife prop on Amazon that I ordered, as well as a rubber hand gun that I thought would fit well with the thigh holsters. They both are a great size and I love the look of them to match the rest of the cosplay! If you are interested in purchasing any of the pieces that I have used for my Bucky cosplay, I have listed everything on my Amazon Storefront (link below!). I do want to clarify that as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. This just means that if you purchase anything off of my Amazon Storefront using the link below, I get a small percentage commission from the purchase made from qualifying items! Click HERE to go to my storefront! THE ARMNext up: The arm. As you all know from my previous blog posts and YouTube videos, one of my goals for this year is to make more cosplay pieces for myself! And that could be in any way, shape, or form. Sewing, EVA foam, hot gluing, you name it! I have never made a cosplay piece before and really had NO idea where to start on this one. So I ended up watching a handful of YouTube tutorials from people who have made their own Winter Soldier arms before! I noticed right away that the common theme here was EVA foam and contact cement to construct the arm together—probably because foam is super easy to move around, and you still want your arm to be mobile, unlike if you were to 3D print something with hard plastic. So it made sense! I ended up finding this AMAZING tutorial by @universeofemily. Her explanation made it easy to follow along, and the way that she did the arm was in a way that I felt like I could handle as a beginner to cosplay prop making. So her tutorial specifically was what I used to follow along while I was making the arm! She also provided free printable templates for the pattern pieces for the arm that you could use, but I ended up just taking my own measurements for my arm in order to make it more custom made to myself. Her tutorial used seran wrap and duct tape to wrap around your arm, then you cut it off yourself, trace pattern pieces, and stencil them on to EVA foam. Then you glue the pieces all together with contact cement, and then repeat the step with the seran wrap and duct tape on the arm mold in order to draw on the pattern pieces. Then after gluing everything on, you spray it with some Plastidip as a base layer, and then get some Rustoleum Silver spray paint to get that metal arm color before finishing it off with the red star. (I’m making it sound way easier than it actually was. This took a LOT of time and work, but I am so proud of how the arm came out! And Emily’s tutorial was super super helpful, so be sure to give it a watch if you’re thinking of making your own version!). The only thing I did differently than she suggested in the video was instead of sewing an undersleeve, I ended up just buying a silver glove to put underneath the arm. Same concept, just no under shirt! I also have a list on my Amazon Storefront of the materials that I used for the arm! As stated above in the outfit section, I do earn from qualifying purchases. I’ve linked the list below if any of you are hoping to check it out! Click HERE to check out the arm materials! MAKEUP AND HAIRLastly, to finish off this Female Winter Soldier look, I wanted to get that classic Bucky black eyeshadow! I know in the movie, his is more smudged and racoon-esque, but I wanted to make mine a little sharper looking. I ended up finding a really quick and easy black smokey eye tutorial on YouTube that just used black eyeliner to tightline my upper and lower lash lines (as well as serve as a base for the eyeshadow), black eyeshadow for the lid, and brown eyeshadow for the crease. I also added a winged liner and popped on some false lashes to make my eyes pop a little bit more!
As for the hair, I had two ideas that I ended up running by my subscribers on Instagram. The first was just having my hair down and curled, and the second was more of a side braid look. We all came to the consensus that the hair down should be the winner. I think if my hair braided was a little bit longer than it is, it would have looked a little better! But I loved the big hair with the mask and the eyeshadow. It really pulled everything together. And with that, I had a finished cosplay! The finalized Female Winter Soldier look. Bucky has been such a huge comfort character of mine since Captain America: The Winter Soldier first came out, and I am so so happy that I finally get to bring this cosplay to life. It has been a dream cosplay of mine for quite a while now, and I am so so happy with it. I can’t wait to film some skits with the new-and-improved arm, and hopefully take some photos with it soon, too! One of my absolute favorite things about TV shows and movies are the soundtracks that are written for them. Good music can instantaneously enhance a scene to up that dramatization factor by 100! So today I present to you my top five favorite Marvel soundtracks! 5. Avengers: EndgameLiterally adding this just for that Portals song alone. When the music is building as all of the team steps out onto the battle field, I get chills down my spine every time! And all of the callbacks to the original Avengers soundtrack just makes this one so so good. 4. Spider-Man: HomecomingThere was quite literally a period of time where I was listening to "Monumental Meltdown" every day on repeat. And the playfulness paired with switch offs of rising orchestrals just MAKE this for me. I especially love the Spider-Man theme in this one because I feel like it so much reflects Peter's personality. Michael Giacchino did good with this one (as always, tbh) <3 3. WandaVisionOne of my favorite things about the WandaVision episodes was how we got to see so many different eras! And I think Christopher Beck did such an amazing job at composing music to go with all of these different sitcom themes each week. They are so fun! And when we get to the more dramatic and heavy moments in the show, I love what they did to enhance those scenes musically. Especially Wanda's theme when she becomes the Scarlet Witch, ohhhhh my god. Chills down my back. Every time. 2. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseYou guys have NO idea how tempted I was to put this as my number one. EVERYTHING about this soundtrack is beyond perfect. Whenever I want to feel motivated or energized, I always throw this on. And I will forever get goosebumps from the main score theme and ALSO the songs that aren't "soundtrack" music. What's Up, Danger gives me chills EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 1. Captain America: The Winter SoldierYou guys. You know I had to put this as my number one. You KNOW I had to. "Fury"? "The Winter Soldier"? "Captain America"? "The Smithsonian"? The list goes ON. Henry Jackman nailed it with this one, you guys. I will never get over how good the music from this movie is.
What are some of your favorite Marvel soundtracks? How are we already on week two of 2023?! I hope you all have had a good start to your New Year so far! I’ve been progressing and starting on some goals I’ve been hoping to achieve for the year, and I wanted to write a blog to share some of that with all of you! But before that, I wanted to give you all a quick reminder. I know for me, it’s often nice to hear this, and I wanted to share it in this space as well. Your goals do not have to be tied to the start of a new year. You can start a goal whenever it seems right. Don’t feel pressured to have an all-or-nothing attitude towards what you want to achieve. Things will take time, and patience, and you can literally start at any point at any time, whether that be January 1st, December 31st, or anywhere in between there. I know a lot of my goals right now are to continue goals that I already started back in 2022. So let’s jump into a few of those here, and also more of what you’ll be seeing of me this year 🙂
More Blog Posts! Of course you’ll be seeing me write even more blog posts as the year progresses. I’m excited to write about the many upcoming projects we have in the MCU and talk more about my love for this fandom. It means so much to me to be able to have a space like this one to discuss and talk about projects as they release. More Cosplays Ah, what is a cosplayer without more cosplays, yeah? I’ve made a few posts about this on my TikTok and Instagram Reels about what my plans are for cosplays this upcoming year, so some of this may sound familiar to you all! I have about five cosplays on my list that I am hoping to add to my cosplay closet. Some of them are still up in the air and just ideas that I have for right now, and obviously as more projects come out I may want to cosplay other characters as well! But for right now my current line up (in order!) is: -Female Winter Soldier -She-Hulk -Cassie Lang -Agatha Harkness -Rapunzel (??) Agatha and Rapunzel are the ones that are most likely subject to change, as the top three are the ones I’m really hoping to do this year! More Photo Posts One thing that I have never done that I’m really hoping to do this year is to take more photos in cosplay! My go-to thing is to always make a skit or video when I get a new cosplay, but I would really love to take more photos or get professional pictures taken of myself as some of my favorite characters <3 and of course, just pictures in general. I want to share more of myself with you all throughout this year! More Content Of course, an obvious one here. I wouldn’t be a content creator without the content! As always, I will be creating more skits and storylines with characters. I’m planning to dive more into the world of long-form videos (if you don’t follow me yet on YouTube, click HERE to subscribe so you don’t miss any! 😊) and share more of my love for the fandom, share some cosplay tips, info about myself, and lots more! And I may also play around with some acting challenges on TikTok and Instagram Reels, using some more audios. Just for fun! And More Conventions! Nothing is set in stone yet for this year, as I am still doing my research and figuring out where and when things are happening, but I am absolutely planning to go to conventions this year! Of course there’s the big one (New York Comic Con!) and I also want to show my love to the little guys as well (FanExpo Boston and Rhode Island Comic Con). And a dream con for me would be to hit up D23, because it seems like SO much fun! As I get more information on if/when I will be going to these cons, I’ll be sure to post about it to let you all know! One of the highlights of my 2022 was to be able to meet so many of you at conventions, and I can’t wait to connect with even more of you this year. Overall, I am excited to jump into more content creation and just enjoy the ride we’re on! I love connecting with all of you and reading your comments and messages (sometimes it takes me quite a while to respond, but please know I see and read all of them!!) and I’m looking forward to another great year. If there is anything specific you are hoping to see from me this year (that you wish for me to continue, or something I haven’t done before) please let me know in the comments or send me a message! I would love to hear from you <3 I can’t wait to see what this year has in store! |
