I know the majority of you follow me for Marvel content. As you all probably know at this point, I definitely see it as my home-base fandom! Marvel is my life blood, and the fandom and storylines I connect to the most. But I think this week I would love to share with you all my thoughts on the series finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel if that's okay with you? 🥹🫶🏻
This series, you guys. This is by far my favorite non-Marvel TV series. I seriously loved every single second we got of this show, and I am devastated knowing I will never get to open my Prime account to watch a new episode ever again. But I suppose there is always rewatching, haha! Anyways, getting to follow Midge's journey throughout the course of the show was so inspiring, especially as a young creative myself. I loved her work towards her career, the relationships she built (especially her and Susie) and just getting to watch her grow. I think out of all of the seasons we got, my favorite two were the second season, where she went to the Catskills and the third season, where she got to tour with Shy Baldwin. I think because we got to see different areas and aspects of Midge's life beyond New York, it made it extra interesting! God, I'm going to miss the jokes and the laughs this show gave me. And the costumes?! THE COSTUMES!! Come on. It was SO incredible. Also quick sidebar here, but did you all see that they gave Midge an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame a few days ago? Some of the show's cast all went to take pictures with it 🥹 I wept. Anywho... My thoughts are scattered all over the place here because I just have so many aspects that I love about Mrs. Maisel. I think the season finale did a really great job of how they ended it, and the fact that all the people she cared about were in that room with her for her big break on The Gordon Ford Show was so special. When Miriam stepped up to the mic and Susie held her hand over her heart with tears in her eyes, oh GOD. I'm tearing up writing this, I just love them so much. I also really liked how this season we also got to see some of what Susie and Miriam's future was like as well. The "flash forwards" were so special each episode and I would love to go back and rewatch now that we have the full picture. And overall, I'm so happy that Susie and Midge reconciled their friendship at the end. That end scene of them watching Jeopardy over the phone was the absolute sweetest. I was convinced that Midge's name was going to be one of the Jeopardy answers or something! I'm surprised they ended up not doing that. I also loved how the lighting changed in her final set, even just for a moment, to reflect Midge's early days at the gaslight. That at her core, we all know she got her start there. Her, and Susie, and their wild friendship. And the brisket! Can't forget about the brisket 😂 It was just such a cool way to reflect upon Miriam's journey and this moment, here and now, before her giant leap into stardom. Overall I think what I really loved about this finale was just how it tied everything together, but still gave us some loose ends that we could decide for ourselves. We may not know Joel's exact fate, or what happens to Midge's parents, or even exactly what Ethan and Esther are doing after the little snippets we received, but I think that's what makes the ending so enjoyable. There is this narrative that we can create for ourselves, deciding the future of the characters based on what we believe would happen. I just loved getting to be able to see parts of their future and parts of their past all intertwined. And at the end of the day, I'm just glad Susie and Midge are still friends. I'm so gonna miss this show. Thank you, and goodnight, Mrs. Maisel <3 we love you to bits.

***ERAS TOUR SPOILERS BELOW*** This past Friday I was lucky enough to go to The Eras Tour with a group of my friends, and I wanted to talk to you all today about my experience with the tour and what it was like! I have been to every Taylor Swift tour since Speak Now, and I was very privileged in the fact that I was able to get tickets for this show. I don't know how the heck she did it, but my close friend was able to snag seats right before Ticketmaster crashed on sale day (she was like 200th in line for tickets--I really don't know how!! A Taylor Swift miracle for real hahah!). My friends and I always have a tradition of hanging out at one of our houses before heading to the show and ordering pizza. We have done this every time there has been a Taylor concert, and we did it this year too! We also made some themed drinks (Lavender Haze!) and each of us picked an era to dress as. I chose Midnights, because I felt that this current album was definitely the one that I related to the most out of Taylor's albums. I had gone shopping for this dress like WEEKS before the show and ended up finding it at Windsor, and it was perfect. I thought it embraced lots of different elements of the Midnights Era, with the lavender haze vibes and the sparkle to it. The jacket was a last minute addition from Amazon that I bought like three days before the show because the weather forecast was predicting 40 degree weather that night! I'm definitely glad I bought it because it for sure got a little cold HAHAHA. But I think it also tied the outfit together so well! My sister and I had also made friendship bracelets for everyone in our group based off of what Era we chose, and it was so fun getting to hand them out on show day! You're On Your Own, Kid is a song I so deeply relate to, and I loved being able to spread a little love through the lyrics of that one. Gotta be honest, we were all a little worried about the traffic going in. We had heard that other concerts were SO bad with the traffic, and that people were waiting hours before even finding a spot. But somehow we got super lucky and it really only took us twenty minutes! Maybe because we left pretty late to get to the show? Unfortunately we ended up missing the openers (GAYLE and Phoebe Bridgers) but managed to catch a little bit of Phoebe while we were standing in line for the bathrooms. We got lucky with the bathrooms, too, honestly! The line looked like it was super long but ended up moving relatively fast, which we were grateful for. By the time we were moving to get to our seats I was absolutely sobbing. Like, literal tears. I knew our section was close, but when I finally saw our view of the stage from where we were sitting it really hit me. We were in section 128 in the 6th row, and honestly? It was an AMAZING view! We could see Taylor so clearly (except for a few moments in the show when she was behind a prop or in that tiny folklore house HAHAH) and I honestly think the first bowl of the stadium is the way to go. I feel like with the floor, if you're a short person like I am and get stuck sitting behind someone who is taller, you're going to be missing a lot of the show! This way gave us full view of the stage since we had raised seating and we were still close enough to see her without her being a tiny dot in our vision. I really truly am still amazed my friend was even able to snag these for us. I literally don't know how she did it. So anyways, cue round one of tears from Jess (well, technically two. I started crying when we got through security as well HAHAH). They also handed out bracelets for everyone that synced during the show and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL (also pro tip my sister heard on TikTok--keep the tab that comes with your bracelet so that after the concert you can insert it back into the bracelet and save the battery life for longer! Then whenever you want to use the bracelet again, you just pull the tab out and it will glow again!). Taylor has done this at past concerts as well and I was so happy to see she was still doing it. Round three of tears was when Taylor came to the stage, I was CRYING so hard. I think what really got me was the "it's been a long time coming" intro. I was really not expecting her to start the show with Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince, and I thought it was such a perfect choice. It really enhanced so much of how we all felt, not having live music for so long! The rest of the show was so amazing--I was so sad to see she only had one Speak Now song for the tour! But also the show was like 3 ½ hours long, so I understand she had to kind of cut down on what was in the set hahah! Our surprise songs the night I was there were Should've Said No and Better Man and I literally was SO excited when she announced them as our songs! They were SO good to hear live, especially Better Man! I have videos of my reactions to those coming in a Peter Parker Vlog soon ;) Did I cry multiple times throughout the rest of the show? The answer is YES I did, but we don't have to talk about that HAHAHHA. It was so fun to experience the whole thing all together with the friends I've been seeing these shows with since I was 12. Absolutely amazing. Plus, I can also say this might be my favorite BeReal I've gotten so far this year! When the show ended (Karma AS THE FINALE SONG? I STILL CANNOT GET OVER HOW HYPE I WAS FOR THAT) my friends and I ended up sitting and waiting for the crowds to clear out. We were going to have to sit in traffic anyways, so we might as well just enjoy sitting in the stadium for a little longer. Someone came up to us as they were leaving and handed us some friendship bracelets! It was so sweet. Each one had a different song (mine was You're Not Sorry) and truly it was the cutest. Because we arrived late, and because we heard the merch truck lines were HOURS LONG, we didn't end up getting merch on the way in. But as we were walking out I noticed a merch booth with only like 7 people in line. I pointed it out to my friends, just as a suggestion that maybe we should take a look! You guys, I definitely recommend checking after the concert ends for merch if you want some and aren't picky about what exactly you want because we were in and out of that line in literally five minutes and we ALL got merch! I impulse bought the Eras Tour zip up and it is the cutest! My sister did hear though that for some people's merch the letters were peeling a bit, so be sure to iron over it before washing if you buy some, just in case! I put a little slideshow with what my zip up looks like below (it's a quarter zip with wording down the arms, and the tour logo on the back! After getting merch we could still see the MASSIVE lines of people trying to cross the street to where we parked, so we ended up going to Crumbl for some cookies (we were also STARVING so this was a great option LOL). I had never had Crumbl before, and I was SO excited to try! I ended up getting the classic chocolate chip, and it was the best cookie ever. So soft and chewy at the same time, oh my god. The absolute best. Even after all the time we killed doing other things, we still sat in traffic for THREE HOURS on the way back, and didn't get home until literally 3 in the morning. We were exhausted but happy all the same. The concert was so fun you guys. I will say, because Taylor had to fit so many songs into this one, there wasn't a lot of opportunity for her to make speeches this time, which I really missed! But it was still such a fun experience and an AMAZING show. I was so happy to hear so many great songs live (Cruel Summer and Karma book-ending the show was the icing on the cake for me, honestly. Two of my faves I was so hoping to hear live 🥹). I'm so grateful to have been able to go to this show. Stay tuned for the Peter vlog coming tonight! I'm so pumped to share a little bit more of the show with you guys <3 I was recently gifted a copy of the new Miles Morales: Suspended book by Simon & Schuster, and just finished reading it this past weekend! You all know how much I love Spidey (any chance to talk about how much I love any and all variations of Spider-Man is a good enough reason for me!) so let's talk about what I thought about the book! A fair warning to you all that I will be talking about the plot in detail in this article, so if you wanted to experience the book your first time without any spoilers, I recommend giving it a read before continuing on with this blog post! There is so much to talk about in regards to this book that I loved, so let's start with general ideas before moving into details here. Jason Reynolds' writing of this story was so beautifully well done. I loved the way that it switched back and forth from written story to poem verse. And every time he switched was perfectly executed and enhanced the plot and feeling of the story very well. I think especially in the parts of the story where Miles is doing his assignments and working through the emotions he is feeling in the moment, this verse style was so powerful. And Zeke Peña's artwork was BEAUTIFUL. Anytime I saw even a hint that there was an illustration on the next page, I was so excited. I think my favorite one has to be the drawing of Miles in his full suit, standing in the street (in the scene where he is being approached to take pictures with tourists!). In terms of the plot, I thought it was a super interesting story. The concept of the termites and infestation, whether physically or ideologically, was so prevalent and powerful to what is happening in life now. The termite ruining and destroying books, especially ones that had to do with the history of African American heritage and history, I think keys in to a lot of really important topics that are happening in current day news, whether that be the Black Lives Matter movement or book bans in schools, for example. And not only that, but the whole reason why Miles is in in-school suspension to begin with: that he stood up for himself and was punished for that. And I think having these important issues not only talked about in this book but also told in a way that younger audiences have a chance to learn and understand topics that are currently happening in day to day life is so incredibly important.
I will say, I think his classmate becoming a giant termite was something I was not really expecting the plot to go towards, though! That entire scene at the end when Miles ends up fighting him in the bathroom was definitely super plot-twisty. Now looking back, I feel like I should have seen that coming from a MILE away, but Miles didn't see it either and he was actively living it. So I'm not too mad at myself for not picking that up HAHHA. And poor Miles trying to read his assignments and absolutely freaking out over the words changing over and over and over, on top of being in in-school suspension, on top of his Spidey-Sense going haywire the entire time. He must have been absolutely exhausted by the end of the day. And we can't have a Spidey story without our favorite side characters as well, which leads us to talking about Ganke. I was so glad Jason added him to the plot! He is such a sweetie and you can tell how much his relationship with Miles means to him. They've always got each other's backs, even if it is helping him with the smallest things, like giving Miles the idea to web the cuff of his shirt so that he doesn't get written up for improper uniform wear at his suspension. Overall, too, I think having the plot take place in a situation where Miles is unable to move, unable to do anything except the assignments he is provided, while everything seems to be crumbling around him, made the story just that bit more intense. That we as the reader can tell that there is something wrong, and we worry for Miles and what is going to happen next. It made the plot so interesting and in turn, provided such a great story along with the many other elements that added to that effect, such as the written verse and the pacing of the plot. If you haven't read Miles Morales: Suspended yet, be sure to pick up your own copy! I highly recommend it as a great Spidey read, and it's definitely a book I am so happy to have on my shelf, and one that I for sure will re-read in the future <3. This weekend, my little Groot plushie and I headed over together to our local movie theater to watch our Guardians friends one last time on the big screen. I didn't really know what to expect heading into this film. We've had so much fun with them the past handful of years, and I was so sad that this will be the last time we see this particular group of Guardians all together. But every time we get a new piece of content with them, my love is rekindled for them so much. So, without further ado, SPOILERS for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 below...
Before I get into the details of this movie, I want to just say that overall I thought the movie was fantastic. What a beautiful way to end the Guardians trilogy and let us in on the backstories of even more of our beloved Guardians friends. As soon as the movie started I started to cry. Little baby Rocket had me weeping. Anytime they showed anything about Rocket's backstory throughout the movie, the tears would start again. He didn't deserve any of what happened to him, and it absolutely broke my heart watching him go through all of that. But god, what a well-written character he is. I have to say, I think this bumped Rocket's character up for me in terms of who my favorite Guardian may be. Though Groot still hits #1 in my heart ;) I'm even tearing up just writing this blog thinking about some of the scenes. They would give me such a gut-wrenching reaction each time (specifically thinking here about the scene when Rocket's friends die and he starts crying. I was BAWLING.). James Gunn did such a wonderful job of telling the story and the details in a way that could get so many emotional reactions out of us, for sure. And overall it just gave Rocket such a full-circle character development that let us in to a lot of the reasonings why he interacts and talks with his friends in certain ways. The High Evolutionary was such an interesting villain for this movie and the character just brought so much into the plot, especially with this craving that he had to get Rocket back. That he was the one who created Rocket and that he saw himself as this god-like figure because he wanted to make this perfect world. Absolutely terrifying, but also kind of similar to Thanos in a way as well. Though, Thanos' main goal was to just wipe half the universe out to make a utopia, whereas the High Evolutionary was more about just CREATING a whole new world for himself and his creations. The addition of Adam Warlock's character in this film was AWESOME and I am so excited to get him in future films in the MCU! I only know a little bit about him from The Infinity Gauntlet (1991) comic run, but I think he is going to be so interesting, especially in terms of interacting with other pre-existing Marvel characters up until this point. I think for this film specifically, he was more used for comic relief and the extra antagonist plot line with his mother, so I am looking forward to seeing him become a more major part of the future of the MCU. There is a ton that I really enjoyed about this film from the sets, the costumes, the plot, and lots more, but I think the only thing that really threw me for a loop with this one was the "death teasing" throughout the plot. Before going in, I was convinced that Rocket, Drax, or both, were on the possible death list for this movie. Especially since Dave Bautista said he was done making the films, and all of the film posters kind of teased Rocket's potential end (which we got the complete opposite of, thank GOODNESS). But it became kind of frustrating throughout the plot because someone almost died in like every battle scene. First it was Groot with his head being cut off, but then he was fine. Then it was Nebula being practically BLASTED through the side of that building, but then she was fine. Then it was Drax being shot through the chest, but then he was fine. Then it was Rocket, of course on death's door (literally seeing his friends) and then he was fine. And then Star-Lord straight up freezing to death in space, and he ended up surviving too. This is me just being a bit nitpicky here, but it was just too much 😂 almost every Guardian throughout the entire movie almost died at least once HAHAH. It was also interesting seeing Gamora in this movie, not remembering any of her past life, but now a Ravenger? It wasn't what I was expecting of her character, so I thought that that was an interesting storyline for her (in a good way!). I was also super glad that they had her eventually warm up to Quill's character, but didn't have them in a relationship. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED them together in all the films leading up to this point and I definitely miss that. But if they had gone through the whole plot with her refusing to be in love with him only to then just literally fall in love with him at the end, I think it would have not sat right with me. So I'm really glad with how they approached their interactions and their relationship throughout the film, including both perspective changes for Star-Lord and Gamora. She realized that Star-Lord was a good person who wanted to look out for her, even if she didn't feel the same way about him relationship wise. And he realized that he had to let her go, and came to terms with that. I don't know about all of you, but one of the scenes that got me the most was that scene at the end when Groot says "I love you guys" to the group before they all go their separate ways. I was SOBBING in the theater. I was in no way expecting that, and it absolutely destroyed me. And seeing all of them say goodbye to one another had me pulling the tissues out of my bag for sure. Drax and Mantis got me the most. Especially after seeing them together in the holiday special back last year, their friendship was so special and I am going to miss seeing them together on screen. Guardian Power Duo for sure <3 And we can't finish off the blog without talking about Peter going back to see his grandfather. I'm actually really glad that they addressed this because it's Lowkey been bothering me since the first Guardians movie HAHAH. The fact that he never went back to check on the family that he left once he had his own ship, even just to see what they were up to from afar, was something I really wanted to happen. And I know that for Peter, going back must have been so hard. That was the place he lost his mother, and he didn't understand that his grandfather had yelled at him because he was grieving the loss of his daughter. Mantis calling him out on that and pointing out that he should go back was such a great way to close out Star-Lord's journey (for now, as we know he's coming back because of that end-credit scene :p). I'm for sure planning to watch this one again once I am emotionally ready (boy did I cry a lot LOL). I will miss our current Guardians friends, but I am so curious how the next group of Guardians will move us forward (and I love that Rocket is leading them <3 also so glad to know that Groot is still around. SWOL GROOT is an ICON and I LOVE HIM). Thank you for everything, Guardians. You have brought so much joy to our lives, and I am so grateful for that. Until we meet again, and can fly together once more in the forever and beautiful sky <3. You all know how much I adore any and all things in the Marvel Universe. But this week, I wanted to share with you all and talk about some of my favorite non-Marvel related projects! Specifically TV shows. I never used to be a TV person. Especially if there were many seasons to catch up on, I would always get overwhelmed about having some much to binge! But over the past couple of years I have been slowly getting back into watching some shows. Here is a list of my absolute faves! 5. Parks and RecreationParks and Recreation is one of those shows that once I started watching, I couldn't stop! I was no longer scared of having so much to binge--I never wanted it to end! Every episode was so hilarious and I fell in love with all of the characters so quickly, especially with The Office style filming they had going on. I still regularly quote so many of the episodes even though I finished watching it a while ago. My personal favorite? When Andy sneezes and hits his head on the wall by accident, giving himself a concussion. Oh! Or when they rent the basketball court for Leslie's campaign, but forgot it was still a skating rink. And of course, the "Treat Yo-Self" episode. There are so many good ones. I'll have to have a rewatch soon just to see Lil' Sebastian again, hahah! 4. Only Murders in the BuildingOkay, so Only Murders in the Building has been out for a couple of years now, but I didn't start watching it until a few weeks ago. Another one that I binged, this one in literally a week. It was SO good! The murder mystery aspect of the show makes it so interesting, especially the way they went about it with the three of them meeting because of listening to the same true crime podcast. I missed seeing Selena Gomez on screen, so it was so much fun to have her back for this series, and Steve Martin and Martin Short's characters are both so interesting. I love the concept of the entire story and how many twists and turns are in each episode. I'm so excited for Season 3!! Hopefully it'll be ready for this summer <3 3. ShrinkingFor those of you who may not have heard of Shrinking before, it is a new show that came to Apple TV a month or so ago! The first season has dropped, and I am patiently awaiting the second season (which has already been confirmed!). The show stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel, who are both therapists. Jason Segel's character recently lost his wife, and he is dealing with his own grief as he helps his clients in some pretty unique ways. Don't let my synopsis fool you though--this is a comedy show! Every episode is filled with so many reasons to laugh, and is so heartfelt as well. I cannot wait for the next season, it has quickly become one of my all-time favorites! 2. Ted LassoYou already KNOW how much I adore this show! Ted Lasso has quickly become a favorite in my household. It is easily one of the highlights of my Wednesdays. I didn't expect to like this originally--a show about soccer (or, football, since it's in the UK)? I'm not a huge sports person, so I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this one. But oh my gosh you guys, by episode 3 I was HOOKED. The characters are so lovable and Ted is so funny. I love getting to watch them slowly work together to bond as a team, and I can't wait for another Ted Lasso episode this week! 1. The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselBy far one of my favorite shows in the entire world is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Absolutely EVERYTHING in this show makes it my favorite. The fashion, the music, the plot. The way the camera shots are. It's like watching a live stage play, but on your screen. And the jokes are so funny. Susie and Midge are hilarious, and I am so sad that this show is in its last season right now. Getting to watch Midge's rise to fame as a comedy star has been so wonderful. I think I'm due for a rewatch of the whole series after this season is finished being released.
Do you watch any of these shows? And if so, which one is your favorite? Leave a comment below, or DM me on Insta! I would love to hear your thoughts! |
