Okay, so it has officially been a bit since The Marvels has come out, but I am SO excited to talk to you all about this! Apologies for getting this out so late. Between catching up on work since the strike ended, and also going on a Disney trip with my friends that we had planned at the beginning of the year, it has been quite an adventure. And now it's the holidays! Things are happening so fast! But in the best way. Man, am I glad to be back!
But you didn't come here to listen to me babble about how busy I am! You came here for The Marvels content! So let's get into it. SPOILERS below for the movie if you have not seen it yet! This movie started off SO strong! I absolutely loved the three-way-power-switch-fight-scene between Kamala, Carol and Monica. It was so fun and chaotic and they had some of the best music choices! Honestly not going to lie, I think this was one of my favorite parts of the movie! I could watch a whole hour and a half of just a fight scene like that and be completely immersed the entire time. It was so good. I loved getting to see our girl Ms. Marvel FINALLY meet her favorite Avenger <3 From the trailers I was a little worried that Carol was going to be mean to her 😭 but she ended up being really sweet and treating her just like she treated baby Monica, which made my heart soar. It was sad to see Monica and Carol kind of in a tiff together. But I'm glad they explored a little bit about Carol visiting Monica's mother during the blip and the section when they were looking into each other's minds to find the coordinates. Kamala was an absolute light this entire film. I adore her so much! And her interactions with all the rest of the characters was so so cute. Also, I need to put this here--but VALKYRIE AND CAROL?! OMG?!?!?! Power couple, the way I SCREAMED in the theater!!! Love that for them 😭 I thought the Aladna scenes were interesting, and Princess Carol was iconic HAHAH. I'm super interested to know more about her "diplomatic relationship", so I hope we get more backstory there! But it may remain a mystery. And the concept of a city having a language of only song was so comic book coded, I loved that 😂 The scene with all of the Flerkens helping everyone evacuate the ship had to have been the funniest thing ever. I adored the entire scene! I couldn't stop laughing at the "Stop running. Let the Flerkens eat you!" hahaha! Iconic, if I do say so myself 😂 But I have to say the end of the movie has three of the biggest plot points... 1. Monica being stranded in a different multiverse! I was so sad that she did that. I had a strong feeling she was going to though, so I wasn't that surprised when it happened. But it also opens up SO much into that end credit scene. More there later ;) 2. KATE BISHOP?! LUCKY?! THE YOUNG AVENGERS?! EVERYONE SHUT UP I'M SO EXCITED! If you know me, you know I am a #1 Young Avengers Stan, it is like my favorite comic book run EVER, I love them, they are so fun and cute and all the characters are truly a vibe. I cannot CANNOT wait to see them fully forming in the MCU! 3. THE X-MEN?! OH TRULY A POWER MOVE MARVEL. I am actually super curious if this is how they are going to tie in Deadpool into our universe! It seems like it's going to be connected to the Deadpool movie this upcoming summer. God, I cannot wait! And how heart wrenching that they have Monica's mother there with her, when she had passed away in her universe. My heart shattered for her :(( What did you all think of The Marvels? Personally, I think it's getting a lot of extra hate that it doesn't deserve. There is so much good about it, and it was such a fun, lighthearted movie! So awesome :) Until next time! -Jess

...and sometimes that's truly just how life goes, huh?
So first of all. Hey guys! I have missed you all SO so much. It's been quite a while since I have written a blog (like, literally months) and it feels good to sit down and write again. I debated about jumping right back in with my thoughts on The Marvels after seeing it tonight, but I think I want to get a little more personal with this one first. So The Marvels will be next up <3 but how about we catch up a little for now, yeah? Trigger Warning for the topics below in regard to mental health and depression. When the SAG-AFTRA strike started, I wanted to show my support and stand in solidarity with both the actors and the writers as they fought for a living wage and fair rights against the use of AI. Everyone deserves to be paid fairly and given fair working conditions, and the unions were long overdue for a contract rewrite as technology has advanced. But standing in solidarity with the actors also meant not talking about my favorite fandoms...which unfortunately also meant no cosplays and no skits. The first two weeks were really tough on me. Those of you who have been following me for a while know how much the Marvel fandom means to me. And even other media as well, such as Disney, Star Wars, and shows that were on streaming services (I got really into New Girl and Gilmore Girls over the course of the strike!). Standing in solidarity was the right thing to do, and if that meant not talking about my favorite shows and movies then of course I would do it. But I didn't realize how much of my coping skills fell into these fandoms until it was taken away for an indefinite amount of time. And the indefiniteness of it all was definitely what got to me the most. I tried expanding my content (hence the Taylor Swift videos here and there) but it just didn't feel the same to me. I didn't get that spark that I used to get when I was dressed in cosplay and filmed my skits for you all. It made it really difficult for me to continue wanting to post videos. Because nothing felt right. I didn't feel as passionate about it. And that started to really get to me. Which is why my posting schedule went from a once-a-week blog and daily videos to maybe 1-2 videos a week and no blogs at all. I had to basically find entirely new coping skills to help me get through this weird content break period. I tried sewing, as you all may have seen from my two whole sewing vlogs (and haven't picked up since LOL whoops. I better get back into that soon!). And tried starting to read again. But when mental health hits you, it sometimes hits hard. And I found myself in a really not-so-great place in my good ol' brain of mine. I had no structure to my days anymore, which I think was a huge part of the reason I was not feeling well. But it also just made it tough in general to keep getting up in the morning. When every day felt the same and there was no end in sight to the strike. There was no one being like "Hey! You'll be able to post again by the time The Marvels rolls around!" or "Hey! Here's an exact date of when you can expect things to wrap up!". Which, of course, was probably the most frustrating for the actors and writers, as they wanted to get back to work! Every day they would show up, willing and ready to meet with the AMPTP to negotiate, and instead the AMPTP kept walking away from the table. I started to find it really hard to get out of bed. If I even got up and got dressed for my day then I'd call it a win. And to be completely honest you guys, I think this was one of the worst mental health lows I've had. I felt like I lost my purpose. And I wasn't able to connect with all of you anymore, which is one of the things I love so very much about content creating. The community and the connection over a mutual love of something so special to all of us. So that's why I disappeared in and out of posting for a bit. And that's okay, because I think that's basically what I needed to do to get through each day. Things are definitely looking a little better now. Right before the strike ended, I had been making more of an effort to reach out to some creator friends, been talking through some things with my therapist, and I've started regularly incorporating movement into my day which has definitely improved my mood. And now we're back to posting our regularly scheduled content again! Which definitely DEFINITELY helps. And overall, I know standing with the actors was the right thing to do. I wouldn't change that for a second. But I did want to share with you all why things have been the way they have on my socials, and share my story from a content creator perspective. While this strike may not have been about influencers and content creators specifically, a lot of us were definitely involved as we stood united with the performing arts unions, and we were impacted by a lot of what was happening. I know I certainly was. I would like to conclude this blog just by saying that for those of you who stuck around--thank you. You have no idea how much it means to me, that even though I wasn't posting what you followed me for and, heck, even though I fell off the face of the planet at times, you still were here, supporting me, sharing my shifted content style, and waiting it out with the actors, the rest of my fellow creators, and me. I love you all so so much. I truly am grateful for you. I'm excited to jump back into what I love, sharing what I love, and connecting with you all more now that the strikes have ended. Thank you. For everything <3 Until the next blog...which will be more regularly again now ;), -Jess (@femalepeterparker) Hello hello friends, and happy July! If you've been following my stories and posts from the past month, you know that I have rarely been home because I've been going on quite a few adventures! From NYC to Florida to a little local con near me and then out to Cali for a week, the month certainly was not a boring one, that's for sure! While it was all fun, I certainly am grateful to have had the last couple of days to relax and catch up on some sleep. I definitely needed it! (P.S. This is a reminder to all of you to be sure to take a rest or a break every once in a while! It's definitely important <3)
I wanted to take a moment to give a huge massive thank you to you all because I absolutely love being able to do what I do, and your support means the world to me! If you had told little baby Jess years ago that she would be posting skits as her favorite characters, working with Marvel and being flown to Disney World by Disney Parks themselves, I don't think I would have ever believed you. I am so humbled and honored that so many of you find comfort in my content, and that my page has become a safe space for you to geek out about your favorite fandom and characters. Reading your messages and comments absolutely brightens my day, and I am so grateful for all of you. As I am home and get back into the grind of things again, I am working on more content and skits, and also editing some YouTube videos! I'm looking forward to doing some more cosplays and skits soon, and I am hoping to get more into costume making as well! I know I said at the beginning of the year that that was one of my goals, and I really hope I can start making that work. It's never too late to start! Until the next skit! Love you all bunches <3 -Jess (@femalepeterparker) Hello hello friends! Another late post for blogs this week, but I promise it's worth it! This month I have been traveling A LOT for a bunch of super cool and amazing opportunities, and this past week was a trip to Walt Disney World for Disney's All The Disney Thrills event! I first want to state, thank you SO so much to Disney for having us! I was lucky enough to be hosted by Disney themselves and they gave me and the other influencers so many awesome experiences this week that I wanted to share with you! I'm currently working on a YouTube vlog that will be up once I find time to edit the clips all together, but until then I'll give a little breakdown (with pics!) of what we did this week. So here we go! Wednesday, June 7th, 2023 My brother (and plus one!) and I woke up bright and early at 4 am to catch our flight from the airport so we could make our way down to Florida! Let me tell you, getting up at 4 am usually sucks. But when Disney is involved, it's not too bad 😉 Our flight was pretty quick, usually it's about 3ish hours and sometimes shorter if the pilots push our flight higher. So we landed in Orlando around 10:30, and then had to get on our Mears Connect bus to take us to...Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge! It was my very first time staying at this particular resort and it is GORGEOUS you guys! It is inspired by the culture and heritage of Africa, and you can see wildlife outside your hotel window! Every morning we could see giraffes and impala from our balcony, and there were also zebra and flamingos around the resort as well (and other animals that I can't even remember off the top of my head right now! Everywhere you went, there were wildlife lookouts to see the animals there). Our first half of the day was essentially just exploring the resort and getting settled/finding a snack to eat since we hadn't had anything since that morning! Then we also checked in with our Disney Parks friends for the event, and they gave us a little welcome gift! Around 4:00 pm we met up with our Disney crew and the other creators on the trip to board a bus outside the resort that took us to Disney Springs! We headed to The Boat House for dinner before going to watch Drawn to Life which is Disney's Cirque de Soleil show! Listen. If you have planned a Disney trip and have not yet seen this show, I HIGHLY recommend. The story is beautiful and the acrobatics are AMAZING. I saw it last year when I went to the opening of Cosmic Rewind, and seeing it a second time I can tell you it was just as good as the first. Such a good show! And we were even given an opportunity to meet with the cast after the show was over before heading back to our hotel for the night! Thursday, June 8th, 2023: This was my Wanda Disneybound Day! I tried to make each of my outfits the days we went to the parks a different Marvel character (for skit purposes, but also for fun!). My brother and I got breakfast on our own that morning at Boma--Flavors of Africa which served buffet style breakfast classics like Mickey waffles and eggs, but also some African inspired cuisine as well! Absolutely delicious and a great way to start our day before meeting with our friends in the lobby to start our Disney adventures! We jumped back on a bus that morning to go back to Disney Springs, because we were lucky enough to have an early preview of some of the Indiana Jones toys and cuisine coming to the parks! There were photo opportunities and so many little goodies to explore! There was CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON?! And tons of different drinks. It was so awesome getting to get an early taste preview of what is to come, especially with the new movie coming out soon! After we finished eating we headed on back to the buses because we had free time to spend at EPCOT! We ended up getting to know JuJu (@straw_hat_goofy) and Jasmine (@mooreamor) a lot more during this trip and spent a lot of our park time with them, which was so much fun! We ran around filming content and taking pictures, and overall having a great day. In true Florida fashion, it torrentially downpoured a couple times, but JuJu didn't let that break his vibe (he filmed a whole TikTok in the rain!). We met back up with the other content creators and our group late that afternoon to all ride Cosmic Rewind together (my FAVORITE ride in the whole park) and...I cried. LOL. And not just like, baby tears when the ride ended. I couldn't stop crying for like 7-10 minutes afterwards (I just love the ride so much, okay?!). It's such a good ride. Then we headed over to eat dinner above Test Track (yes, THE Test Track!) and had a dance party with a gorgeous view of the EPCOT ball! And they even had a meet and greet with Star-Lord and Gamora for us! It was so awesome to talk with them. Gamora said I can borrow the Milano ;) And to end the night, we got a VIP viewing area of the Epcot Fireworks, complete with 3D glasses that turn the lights into Mickeys! (I'll post a video in my Vlog soon!) Friday June 9th, 2023 This morning we had to get up super bright and early to make our bus so we could head over to Animal Kingdom and eat breakfast in the world of Pandora! I have never been to Pandora this early in the morning with no one around, and it made for an amazing photo opportunity of the area, and we even got to be the very first ones to ride Flight of Passage that day, as our group got special access before we ate (and guess what everybody? Jess was crying again, hahah! Another ride that always gets me). Then we got to spend the rest of the day having some free time! We hung out in Animal Kingdom for majority of the day, and met up with the lovely Danielle (@thedapperdanielle) and Cole (@bibbidi.bobbidi.beard) before park hopping over to Disney's Hollywood Studios! We finished up the day by heading over to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show where we got to eat dinner ON THE STAGE where the performance takes place! We had a dance party and they had really fun opportunities throughout as well, such as magicians and tricks as well as henna tattoos. We were supposed to go to a viewing of Fantasmic! that night, but unfortunately the lightning and thunderstorms cancelled it on us 😭 Saturday, June 10th, 2023: Magic Kingdom Day! We started the day off with a party (and in my Kate Bishop Disneybound) by heading to an early entrance to the park where we had a Mardi Gras party with Tiana and friends! They gave out beads, there was dancing and photo ops, and we even got to go on the river boat! Then we got to eat breakfast (they had MICKEY BEIGNETS) before having some free time to go to some rides! We headed over to the Tron ride (my first time riding it, and it is AWESOME!) and also met up with some characters throughout the day! And of course, took any photo ops and content creation opportunities that we could! Halfway through the day we headed back to our hotel because we needed to get ready to head over to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon for a special H20 Glow event! I had never been to the water park at Disney, but let me tell you guys, it is SO fun! It reminded me a lot of Disney's Castaway Cay island that some of the Disney Cruises take you on. I loved it! The waterslides were so fun and it was such an awesome way to end our trip. I have a couple clips I'll post in my vlog, but for the most part I kept my phone away for this part of the event because there was so much water! Sunday, June 11th, 2023 Our last day :( our flight left at 4 that afternoon, but we had a little bit of time to hit Hollywood Studios with some friends! We hung out with @twinsauce (Luke and Paul!) for our final day and rope dropped all together to get to Millennium Falcon run, since we missed it our first day in Hollywood Studios. And because we got early park access being at a Disney resort, we actually were lucky enough to ride it TWICE since the ride line was only 15 minutes long! Then we headed further into Batuu to get some breakfast (Ronto Wraps and Cold Brew? Sign me up!) before heading for one last ride at Slinky Dog, a couple photo ops, and some shopping (where I bought my little baby rocket!) before we had to head back to the hotel to get our bags and go to the airport. A huge shoutout and big thank you to Disney Parks for hosting my friends and I! I am so so lucky to be able to go on these trips and make such fun content. This was such an awesome experience and I miss it already. Until next time! See ya real soon, Mickey <3
-Jess (@femalepeterparker) P.S. Stay tuned for my YouTube Vlog coming soon! (When I can get my act together and edit finally hahah! 😂). SPOILERS BELOW and fair warning that this article is absolutely unhinged, me screaming about everything I loved about this film. Okay thanks, read at your own risk <3 :)
Listen guys. I know this post is late. I usually post my blogs on Mondays. BUT. There is good reason. I wanted to wait to write this blog TODAY because I actually went to see the movie a second time last night, and wanted get all my thoughts in order. So without further ado, let's talk about this PERFECT PIECE OF CINEMA. I literally do not have a single bad thing to say about this movie. It is literally everything I could have asked for in a Spider-Man film. The cameos were EVERYTHING and the fact that we got live action human beings in there as well as the animation opens the door for SO MANY POSSIBILITIES?! LIKE HELLO!!!! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE OF THE MCU. Sorry to yell, you all just know how passionate I am about any variation of Spidey. Also not to mention the absolute love of my life, Peter Parkedcar, so glad our homie made an appearance <3 love him! Miles' character development? Chef's kiss. The plot? Chef's kiss. The ANIMATION?! CHEFS. KISS. Everything. Everything about this. Was so good. I loved that they gave us so much into Gwen's world (her animation was? So beautiful?!) and also how they let us into some of Miles' current Spidey life before jumping us right into the action and the thick of the main plot. Also, I love how Spot's main motive was that he was hit with a bagel 😭 I'm crying, that was hilarious. The jokes in this movie were TOO good, like the baby powder mess up that Miles had, and the "are you a cow or a Dalmatian" PLS. There are so many more I can't even think of off the top of my head writing this right now, but it was just absolutely hilarious. I could not stop laughing the entire film. Not to mention the freaking PLOT TWIST OF AN ENDING HELLO?! Okay so as soon as Miles glitched and we realized he was in a different universe than his own, I had some feeling he was going to be evil/The Prowler in Earth-42 and I was so excited when that became true. It just makes the plot so juicy, man. So rich. Also when I did my rewatch last night I noticed there were a couple hints that he was in the wrong universe that I missed the first time around. Like, for example, Miles' mom's eyes are GREEN in Earth 42! So neat. Mayday was the cutest little baby I adore her and Peter's whole speech about how he loves Miles and that's why he had her. It's so great to see Peter so happy after having a movie where he was so sad. 10/10 for him, what an icon. He deserves it. This article is just stream of consciousness today, wow. I can't LOL. Okay but real talk though. It was so cool to see all the Spidey variants. I loved the soundtrack. I loved the weight of the plot, and how it wasn't over dramatic but wasn't under dramatic either. It sat right where it needed to. And that "Nah, imma do my own thing" line gives me CHILLS every time I watch. God. This takes the cake, you guys. This takes the cake for my favorite Spidey film. I'm telling you. It's so perfect. Everything about this. If this was Part 1, I can't even imagine what Part 2 is going to have. And we get our OGs BACK! SPIDER-HAM! SPIDER-MAN NOIR! PENNY! Oh I can't wait. March can't come soon enough! And the new characters were so fun! Spider-Punk and Spider-Man India and Spider-Man 2099. God. I fell in love with their characters instantly. (Also not Miguel being the angriest LOL he was so grumpy gus the whole movie, love that for him). An absolute 10/10 my favorite movie this year so far. I cannot wait to rewatch this a hundred thousand more times in theaters, and then a trillion more when I own it. Thank you Marvel. THANK YOU SPIDER-VERSE. I love this. I know the majority of you follow me for Marvel content. As you all probably know at this point, I definitely see it as my home-base fandom! Marvel is my life blood, and the fandom and storylines I connect to the most. But I think this week I would love to share with you all my thoughts on the series finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel if that's okay with you? 🥹🫶🏻
This series, you guys. This is by far my favorite non-Marvel TV series. I seriously loved every single second we got of this show, and I am devastated knowing I will never get to open my Prime account to watch a new episode ever again. But I suppose there is always rewatching, haha! Anyways, getting to follow Midge's journey throughout the course of the show was so inspiring, especially as a young creative myself. I loved her work towards her career, the relationships she built (especially her and Susie) and just getting to watch her grow. I think out of all of the seasons we got, my favorite two were the second season, where she went to the Catskills and the third season, where she got to tour with Shy Baldwin. I think because we got to see different areas and aspects of Midge's life beyond New York, it made it extra interesting! God, I'm going to miss the jokes and the laughs this show gave me. And the costumes?! THE COSTUMES!! Come on. It was SO incredible. Also quick sidebar here, but did you all see that they gave Midge an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame a few days ago? Some of the show's cast all went to take pictures with it 🥹 I wept. Anywho... My thoughts are scattered all over the place here because I just have so many aspects that I love about Mrs. Maisel. I think the season finale did a really great job of how they ended it, and the fact that all the people she cared about were in that room with her for her big break on The Gordon Ford Show was so special. When Miriam stepped up to the mic and Susie held her hand over her heart with tears in her eyes, oh GOD. I'm tearing up writing this, I just love them so much. I also really liked how this season we also got to see some of what Susie and Miriam's future was like as well. The "flash forwards" were so special each episode and I would love to go back and rewatch now that we have the full picture. And overall, I'm so happy that Susie and Midge reconciled their friendship at the end. That end scene of them watching Jeopardy over the phone was the absolute sweetest. I was convinced that Midge's name was going to be one of the Jeopardy answers or something! I'm surprised they ended up not doing that. I also loved how the lighting changed in her final set, even just for a moment, to reflect Midge's early days at the gaslight. That at her core, we all know she got her start there. Her, and Susie, and their wild friendship. And the brisket! Can't forget about the brisket 😂 It was just such a cool way to reflect upon Miriam's journey and this moment, here and now, before her giant leap into stardom. Overall I think what I really loved about this finale was just how it tied everything together, but still gave us some loose ends that we could decide for ourselves. We may not know Joel's exact fate, or what happens to Midge's parents, or even exactly what Ethan and Esther are doing after the little snippets we received, but I think that's what makes the ending so enjoyable. There is this narrative that we can create for ourselves, deciding the future of the characters based on what we believe would happen. I just loved getting to be able to see parts of their future and parts of their past all intertwined. And at the end of the day, I'm just glad Susie and Midge are still friends. I'm so gonna miss this show. Thank you, and goodnight, Mrs. Maisel <3 we love you to bits. ***ERAS TOUR SPOILERS BELOW*** This past Friday I was lucky enough to go to The Eras Tour with a group of my friends, and I wanted to talk to you all today about my experience with the tour and what it was like! I have been to every Taylor Swift tour since Speak Now, and I was very privileged in the fact that I was able to get tickets for this show. I don't know how the heck she did it, but my close friend was able to snag seats right before Ticketmaster crashed on sale day (she was like 200th in line for tickets--I really don't know how!! A Taylor Swift miracle for real hahah!). My friends and I always have a tradition of hanging out at one of our houses before heading to the show and ordering pizza. We have done this every time there has been a Taylor concert, and we did it this year too! We also made some themed drinks (Lavender Haze!) and each of us picked an era to dress as. I chose Midnights, because I felt that this current album was definitely the one that I related to the most out of Taylor's albums. I had gone shopping for this dress like WEEKS before the show and ended up finding it at Windsor, and it was perfect. I thought it embraced lots of different elements of the Midnights Era, with the lavender haze vibes and the sparkle to it. The jacket was a last minute addition from Amazon that I bought like three days before the show because the weather forecast was predicting 40 degree weather that night! I'm definitely glad I bought it because it for sure got a little cold HAHAHA. But I think it also tied the outfit together so well! My sister and I had also made friendship bracelets for everyone in our group based off of what Era we chose, and it was so fun getting to hand them out on show day! You're On Your Own, Kid is a song I so deeply relate to, and I loved being able to spread a little love through the lyrics of that one. Gotta be honest, we were all a little worried about the traffic going in. We had heard that other concerts were SO bad with the traffic, and that people were waiting hours before even finding a spot. But somehow we got super lucky and it really only took us twenty minutes! Maybe because we left pretty late to get to the show? Unfortunately we ended up missing the openers (GAYLE and Phoebe Bridgers) but managed to catch a little bit of Phoebe while we were standing in line for the bathrooms. We got lucky with the bathrooms, too, honestly! The line looked like it was super long but ended up moving relatively fast, which we were grateful for. By the time we were moving to get to our seats I was absolutely sobbing. Like, literal tears. I knew our section was close, but when I finally saw our view of the stage from where we were sitting it really hit me. We were in section 128 in the 6th row, and honestly? It was an AMAZING view! We could see Taylor so clearly (except for a few moments in the show when she was behind a prop or in that tiny folklore house HAHAH) and I honestly think the first bowl of the stadium is the way to go. I feel like with the floor, if you're a short person like I am and get stuck sitting behind someone who is taller, you're going to be missing a lot of the show! This way gave us full view of the stage since we had raised seating and we were still close enough to see her without her being a tiny dot in our vision. I really truly am still amazed my friend was even able to snag these for us. I literally don't know how she did it. So anyways, cue round one of tears from Jess (well, technically two. I started crying when we got through security as well HAHAH). They also handed out bracelets for everyone that synced during the show and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL (also pro tip my sister heard on TikTok--keep the tab that comes with your bracelet so that after the concert you can insert it back into the bracelet and save the battery life for longer! Then whenever you want to use the bracelet again, you just pull the tab out and it will glow again!). Taylor has done this at past concerts as well and I was so happy to see she was still doing it. Round three of tears was when Taylor came to the stage, I was CRYING so hard. I think what really got me was the "it's been a long time coming" intro. I was really not expecting her to start the show with Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince, and I thought it was such a perfect choice. It really enhanced so much of how we all felt, not having live music for so long! The rest of the show was so amazing--I was so sad to see she only had one Speak Now song for the tour! But also the show was like 3 ½ hours long, so I understand she had to kind of cut down on what was in the set hahah! Our surprise songs the night I was there were Should've Said No and Better Man and I literally was SO excited when she announced them as our songs! They were SO good to hear live, especially Better Man! I have videos of my reactions to those coming in a Peter Parker Vlog soon ;) Did I cry multiple times throughout the rest of the show? The answer is YES I did, but we don't have to talk about that HAHAHHA. It was so fun to experience the whole thing all together with the friends I've been seeing these shows with since I was 12. Absolutely amazing. Plus, I can also say this might be my favorite BeReal I've gotten so far this year! When the show ended (Karma AS THE FINALE SONG? I STILL CANNOT GET OVER HOW HYPE I WAS FOR THAT) my friends and I ended up sitting and waiting for the crowds to clear out. We were going to have to sit in traffic anyways, so we might as well just enjoy sitting in the stadium for a little longer. Someone came up to us as they were leaving and handed us some friendship bracelets! It was so sweet. Each one had a different song (mine was You're Not Sorry) and truly it was the cutest. Because we arrived late, and because we heard the merch truck lines were HOURS LONG, we didn't end up getting merch on the way in. But as we were walking out I noticed a merch booth with only like 7 people in line. I pointed it out to my friends, just as a suggestion that maybe we should take a look! You guys, I definitely recommend checking after the concert ends for merch if you want some and aren't picky about what exactly you want because we were in and out of that line in literally five minutes and we ALL got merch! I impulse bought the Eras Tour zip up and it is the cutest! My sister did hear though that for some people's merch the letters were peeling a bit, so be sure to iron over it before washing if you buy some, just in case! I put a little slideshow with what my zip up looks like below (it's a quarter zip with wording down the arms, and the tour logo on the back! After getting merch we could still see the MASSIVE lines of people trying to cross the street to where we parked, so we ended up going to Crumbl for some cookies (we were also STARVING so this was a great option LOL). I had never had Crumbl before, and I was SO excited to try! I ended up getting the classic chocolate chip, and it was the best cookie ever. So soft and chewy at the same time, oh my god. The absolute best. Even after all the time we killed doing other things, we still sat in traffic for THREE HOURS on the way back, and didn't get home until literally 3 in the morning. We were exhausted but happy all the same. The concert was so fun you guys. I will say, because Taylor had to fit so many songs into this one, there wasn't a lot of opportunity for her to make speeches this time, which I really missed! But it was still such a fun experience and an AMAZING show. I was so happy to hear so many great songs live (Cruel Summer and Karma book-ending the show was the icing on the cake for me, honestly. Two of my faves I was so hoping to hear live 🥹). I'm so grateful to have been able to go to this show. Stay tuned for the Peter vlog coming tonight! I'm so pumped to share a little bit more of the show with you guys <3 I was recently gifted a copy of the new Miles Morales: Suspended book by Simon & Schuster, and just finished reading it this past weekend! You all know how much I love Spidey (any chance to talk about how much I love any and all variations of Spider-Man is a good enough reason for me!) so let's talk about what I thought about the book! A fair warning to you all that I will be talking about the plot in detail in this article, so if you wanted to experience the book your first time without any spoilers, I recommend giving it a read before continuing on with this blog post! There is so much to talk about in regards to this book that I loved, so let's start with general ideas before moving into details here. Jason Reynolds' writing of this story was so beautifully well done. I loved the way that it switched back and forth from written story to poem verse. And every time he switched was perfectly executed and enhanced the plot and feeling of the story very well. I think especially in the parts of the story where Miles is doing his assignments and working through the emotions he is feeling in the moment, this verse style was so powerful. And Zeke Peña's artwork was BEAUTIFUL. Anytime I saw even a hint that there was an illustration on the next page, I was so excited. I think my favorite one has to be the drawing of Miles in his full suit, standing in the street (in the scene where he is being approached to take pictures with tourists!). In terms of the plot, I thought it was a super interesting story. The concept of the termites and infestation, whether physically or ideologically, was so prevalent and powerful to what is happening in life now. The termite ruining and destroying books, especially ones that had to do with the history of African American heritage and history, I think keys in to a lot of really important topics that are happening in current day news, whether that be the Black Lives Matter movement or book bans in schools, for example. And not only that, but the whole reason why Miles is in in-school suspension to begin with: that he stood up for himself and was punished for that. And I think having these important issues not only talked about in this book but also told in a way that younger audiences have a chance to learn and understand topics that are currently happening in day to day life is so incredibly important.
I will say, I think his classmate becoming a giant termite was something I was not really expecting the plot to go towards, though! That entire scene at the end when Miles ends up fighting him in the bathroom was definitely super plot-twisty. Now looking back, I feel like I should have seen that coming from a MILE away, but Miles didn't see it either and he was actively living it. So I'm not too mad at myself for not picking that up HAHHA. And poor Miles trying to read his assignments and absolutely freaking out over the words changing over and over and over, on top of being in in-school suspension, on top of his Spidey-Sense going haywire the entire time. He must have been absolutely exhausted by the end of the day. And we can't have a Spidey story without our favorite side characters as well, which leads us to talking about Ganke. I was so glad Jason added him to the plot! He is such a sweetie and you can tell how much his relationship with Miles means to him. They've always got each other's backs, even if it is helping him with the smallest things, like giving Miles the idea to web the cuff of his shirt so that he doesn't get written up for improper uniform wear at his suspension. Overall, too, I think having the plot take place in a situation where Miles is unable to move, unable to do anything except the assignments he is provided, while everything seems to be crumbling around him, made the story just that bit more intense. That we as the reader can tell that there is something wrong, and we worry for Miles and what is going to happen next. It made the plot so interesting and in turn, provided such a great story along with the many other elements that added to that effect, such as the written verse and the pacing of the plot. If you haven't read Miles Morales: Suspended yet, be sure to pick up your own copy! I highly recommend it as a great Spidey read, and it's definitely a book I am so happy to have on my shelf, and one that I for sure will re-read in the future <3. This weekend, my little Groot plushie and I headed over together to our local movie theater to watch our Guardians friends one last time on the big screen. I didn't really know what to expect heading into this film. We've had so much fun with them the past handful of years, and I was so sad that this will be the last time we see this particular group of Guardians all together. But every time we get a new piece of content with them, my love is rekindled for them so much. So, without further ado, SPOILERS for Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 below...
Before I get into the details of this movie, I want to just say that overall I thought the movie was fantastic. What a beautiful way to end the Guardians trilogy and let us in on the backstories of even more of our beloved Guardians friends. As soon as the movie started I started to cry. Little baby Rocket had me weeping. Anytime they showed anything about Rocket's backstory throughout the movie, the tears would start again. He didn't deserve any of what happened to him, and it absolutely broke my heart watching him go through all of that. But god, what a well-written character he is. I have to say, I think this bumped Rocket's character up for me in terms of who my favorite Guardian may be. Though Groot still hits #1 in my heart ;) I'm even tearing up just writing this blog thinking about some of the scenes. They would give me such a gut-wrenching reaction each time (specifically thinking here about the scene when Rocket's friends die and he starts crying. I was BAWLING.). James Gunn did such a wonderful job of telling the story and the details in a way that could get so many emotional reactions out of us, for sure. And overall it just gave Rocket such a full-circle character development that let us in to a lot of the reasonings why he interacts and talks with his friends in certain ways. The High Evolutionary was such an interesting villain for this movie and the character just brought so much into the plot, especially with this craving that he had to get Rocket back. That he was the one who created Rocket and that he saw himself as this god-like figure because he wanted to make this perfect world. Absolutely terrifying, but also kind of similar to Thanos in a way as well. Though, Thanos' main goal was to just wipe half the universe out to make a utopia, whereas the High Evolutionary was more about just CREATING a whole new world for himself and his creations. The addition of Adam Warlock's character in this film was AWESOME and I am so excited to get him in future films in the MCU! I only know a little bit about him from The Infinity Gauntlet (1991) comic run, but I think he is going to be so interesting, especially in terms of interacting with other pre-existing Marvel characters up until this point. I think for this film specifically, he was more used for comic relief and the extra antagonist plot line with his mother, so I am looking forward to seeing him become a more major part of the future of the MCU. There is a ton that I really enjoyed about this film from the sets, the costumes, the plot, and lots more, but I think the only thing that really threw me for a loop with this one was the "death teasing" throughout the plot. Before going in, I was convinced that Rocket, Drax, or both, were on the possible death list for this movie. Especially since Dave Bautista said he was done making the films, and all of the film posters kind of teased Rocket's potential end (which we got the complete opposite of, thank GOODNESS). But it became kind of frustrating throughout the plot because someone almost died in like every battle scene. First it was Groot with his head being cut off, but then he was fine. Then it was Nebula being practically BLASTED through the side of that building, but then she was fine. Then it was Drax being shot through the chest, but then he was fine. Then it was Rocket, of course on death's door (literally seeing his friends) and then he was fine. And then Star-Lord straight up freezing to death in space, and he ended up surviving too. This is me just being a bit nitpicky here, but it was just too much 😂 almost every Guardian throughout the entire movie almost died at least once HAHAH. It was also interesting seeing Gamora in this movie, not remembering any of her past life, but now a Ravenger? It wasn't what I was expecting of her character, so I thought that that was an interesting storyline for her (in a good way!). I was also super glad that they had her eventually warm up to Quill's character, but didn't have them in a relationship. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED them together in all the films leading up to this point and I definitely miss that. But if they had gone through the whole plot with her refusing to be in love with him only to then just literally fall in love with him at the end, I think it would have not sat right with me. So I'm really glad with how they approached their interactions and their relationship throughout the film, including both perspective changes for Star-Lord and Gamora. She realized that Star-Lord was a good person who wanted to look out for her, even if she didn't feel the same way about him relationship wise. And he realized that he had to let her go, and came to terms with that. I don't know about all of you, but one of the scenes that got me the most was that scene at the end when Groot says "I love you guys" to the group before they all go their separate ways. I was SOBBING in the theater. I was in no way expecting that, and it absolutely destroyed me. And seeing all of them say goodbye to one another had me pulling the tissues out of my bag for sure. Drax and Mantis got me the most. Especially after seeing them together in the holiday special back last year, their friendship was so special and I am going to miss seeing them together on screen. Guardian Power Duo for sure <3 And we can't finish off the blog without talking about Peter going back to see his grandfather. I'm actually really glad that they addressed this because it's Lowkey been bothering me since the first Guardians movie HAHAH. The fact that he never went back to check on the family that he left once he had his own ship, even just to see what they were up to from afar, was something I really wanted to happen. And I know that for Peter, going back must have been so hard. That was the place he lost his mother, and he didn't understand that his grandfather had yelled at him because he was grieving the loss of his daughter. Mantis calling him out on that and pointing out that he should go back was such a great way to close out Star-Lord's journey (for now, as we know he's coming back because of that end-credit scene :p). I'm for sure planning to watch this one again once I am emotionally ready (boy did I cry a lot LOL). I will miss our current Guardians friends, but I am so curious how the next group of Guardians will move us forward (and I love that Rocket is leading them <3 also so glad to know that Groot is still around. SWOL GROOT is an ICON and I LOVE HIM). Thank you for everything, Guardians. You have brought so much joy to our lives, and I am so grateful for that. Until we meet again, and can fly together once more in the forever and beautiful sky <3. You all know how much I adore any and all things in the Marvel Universe. But this week, I wanted to share with you all and talk about some of my favorite non-Marvel related projects! Specifically TV shows. I never used to be a TV person. Especially if there were many seasons to catch up on, I would always get overwhelmed about having some much to binge! But over the past couple of years I have been slowly getting back into watching some shows. Here is a list of my absolute faves! 5. Parks and RecreationParks and Recreation is one of those shows that once I started watching, I couldn't stop! I was no longer scared of having so much to binge--I never wanted it to end! Every episode was so hilarious and I fell in love with all of the characters so quickly, especially with The Office style filming they had going on. I still regularly quote so many of the episodes even though I finished watching it a while ago. My personal favorite? When Andy sneezes and hits his head on the wall by accident, giving himself a concussion. Oh! Or when they rent the basketball court for Leslie's campaign, but forgot it was still a skating rink. And of course, the "Treat Yo-Self" episode. There are so many good ones. I'll have to have a rewatch soon just to see Lil' Sebastian again, hahah! 4. Only Murders in the BuildingOkay, so Only Murders in the Building has been out for a couple of years now, but I didn't start watching it until a few weeks ago. Another one that I binged, this one in literally a week. It was SO good! The murder mystery aspect of the show makes it so interesting, especially the way they went about it with the three of them meeting because of listening to the same true crime podcast. I missed seeing Selena Gomez on screen, so it was so much fun to have her back for this series, and Steve Martin and Martin Short's characters are both so interesting. I love the concept of the entire story and how many twists and turns are in each episode. I'm so excited for Season 3!! Hopefully it'll be ready for this summer <3 3. ShrinkingFor those of you who may not have heard of Shrinking before, it is a new show that came to Apple TV a month or so ago! The first season has dropped, and I am patiently awaiting the second season (which has already been confirmed!). The show stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel, who are both therapists. Jason Segel's character recently lost his wife, and he is dealing with his own grief as he helps his clients in some pretty unique ways. Don't let my synopsis fool you though--this is a comedy show! Every episode is filled with so many reasons to laugh, and is so heartfelt as well. I cannot wait for the next season, it has quickly become one of my all-time favorites! 2. Ted LassoYou already KNOW how much I adore this show! Ted Lasso has quickly become a favorite in my household. It is easily one of the highlights of my Wednesdays. I didn't expect to like this originally--a show about soccer (or, football, since it's in the UK)? I'm not a huge sports person, so I wasn't sure if I was gonna like this one. But oh my gosh you guys, by episode 3 I was HOOKED. The characters are so lovable and Ted is so funny. I love getting to watch them slowly work together to bond as a team, and I can't wait for another Ted Lasso episode this week! 1. The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselBy far one of my favorite shows in the entire world is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Absolutely EVERYTHING in this show makes it my favorite. The fashion, the music, the plot. The way the camera shots are. It's like watching a live stage play, but on your screen. And the jokes are so funny. Susie and Midge are hilarious, and I am so sad that this show is in its last season right now. Getting to watch Midge's rise to fame as a comedy star has been so wonderful. I think I'm due for a rewatch of the whole series after this season is finished being released.
Do you watch any of these shows? And if so, which one is your favorite? Leave a comment below, or DM me on Insta! I would love to hear your thoughts! |
